One Direction: Who are We & "Where We Are"

After having performed on the British singing competition The X-Factor, the English boy band One Direction (1D) burst onto the scene in 2011. The boys clicked immediately, topping the Billboards and tearing the Charts ever since. Their distinguished catchy dance-pop sound, energetic and full of life, live performances, clean and preppy fashion style and talent display has earned them millions of fans worldwide.

The band consists of five strong individuals, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. They all signed up as solo candidates in The X Factor competition but were ultimately convinced that they’d be much more successful as a group. Always involved in singing and music, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson are from England. Zayn Malik is also from England and constantly played music on his computer and sang before deciding to audition of the The X Factor. Niall Horan, however, is from Ireland. He had been in school choirs and loved playing guitar before he showed up for the audition and joined the rest of the group with separate paths led to the same platform of the TV Show and hence the "1D band" was formed.

One Direction's musical achievements include three books, all titled with their band’s name. All three books contain behind-the scenes pictures, backstage photos, interview with each of the band members and exclusive personal pictures. The other book "Dare to Dream" contains the inside information of their life on the road and interaction with fans, showing their true love for music. In hope of promoting their music to its fullest potential, the band members have been performing at various events to meet their fans and gain more exposure. They also became pin-up models for their own calendar for 2012 and featured in the marketing of various products to promote their music.
